Mr. George "Ed" Carrigan's Obituary
Mr. George “Ed” Carrigan, age 86, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 in Muskegon. He was born in Grand Rapids on February 11, 1929 to Robert and Kathryn Carrigan. Ed received his Masters of Education from Western Michigan University. He had a long career in teaching, coaching and administration in several different school districts before retiring from Mona Shores Public Schools. Ed was an accomplished football, basketball, baseball and track coach and had several conference championship teams. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking, but most importantly, he loved his family and cherished time spent with them. After his retirement, Ed started Mr. Ed Toys-N-Things, and was well known for his quality woodworking projects. On April 21, 1972, Ed married the former Helen Hysell in Muskegon and she survives him along with three children, Jeff (Nancy) Carrigan, Pat (Janice) Carrigan, Chris (Elaine) Carrigan; two step-children, Cindy (Brian) Turgeon, Don (Carrie) Major; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Jason (Karen) Carrigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kelly Beauperlant; and two brothers, Robert and Andrew Carrigan. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Rev. Dr. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. VISITATION will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Wednesday. Burial will be in Laketon Township Cemetery.
