Mr. George J. Carron's Obituary
George J. Carron, age 90, passed away on August 7, 2014. George was born on December 8, 1923 to George and Mary Louise Bissonette. He was raised in the Muskegon area and in 1946 he married the former Irene Westrick. Together they were blessed with 6 children. He was a WWII veteran and bricklayer by trade. He served as the Business Agent for Local 5 Bricklayers from 1956 to 1988. George also served as the President of the Building Trades for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post 9, Knights of Columbus, and the D.A.V. Post 11. George was a strong-willed, funny, quick-witted, loving, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and husband who will be deeply missed. He is SURVIVED by his children, Patricia (Tom) Friday, Susan (Mark) Cheney, Thomas (Pamela) Carron and Gary (Teresa) Carron; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and a loving companion of 16 years, Mary Beatty. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; granddaughter, Megan Krypel; great-granddaughter, Sophia Rose; and his parents. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 11 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 3252 Apple Ave. with Fr. Antony Britto officiating. VISITATION will be held 2 hours prior to the start of the service. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
