George N. Dennis' Obituary
George Norman Dennis, age 80, passed away at his home in Custer, MI on Saturday, April 16, 2022. He was born on May 12, 1941, in Muskegon, MI, to his parents George A. and Dorothy M. (Carnes) Dennis. After graduating from Muskegon Heights High School, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. On January 27, 1962 he married the former Shirley Malmstrom, and they spent 60 wonderful years together. George worked at the SD Warren/Sappi Paper Mill before retiring in 2004. George loved spending time in the outdoors, whether it was fishing the area lakes, working in his yard, or hunting for morel mushrooms. He also enjoyed the music of Peter, Paul and Mary, and he was a member of VFW Post #5096 in Custer. George absolutely adored all the pets that he had over the years, they all brought him great joy. George will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley; three children: Kelly Dennis, George T. Dennis, and Brian (Ruth) Dennis; six grandchildren: Nikki (Mike), Shane, Molly (Kat), Melanie (Rich), Chelsea (Tony), and George Stephen; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Patricia (Ronald) Hagstrom. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Denny L. Dennis. A private family service will be taking place for George, in lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to the Muskegon Humane Society and Animal Rescue (2640 Marquette Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442).
