George Nelson Hill's Obituary
Mr. George Nelson Hill, age 82, passed away Wednesday morning, January 13, 2016, at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Muskegon on October 16, 1933 to Edward and Bertha (Pulsifer) Hill. As a young man, George enlisted in the United States Air Force and he served as a jet fighter mechanic during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After 20 years of service, George retired in 1973. After his military career, George worked in quality control at Herman Miller for 10 years. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church of Grand Haven, the Grand Haven American Legion Post 28, a life-member of the Disabled American Veterans, and a life-member of the Air Force Sergeants Association. George enjoyed camping, traveling, and most importantly, spending time with his family. On January 16, 1956, George married the former Selina Fizzard in St. John, Newfoundland, Canada, and she survives him along with two daughters, Georgia Ann (Michael) Lorenz and Ada Grace (Jeff) Young; six grandchildren, Brandy (Chantal) Storm, Nicole Lorenz, Tonya Wigger, George (Alisa) Wigger, Kevin (Isabel) Wigger, Jr., and Dustin (Lindsey) Young; five great grandchildren and one on-the-way; one sister, Maxine Bailard; three sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Lochleigh) Fiander, Annie (Dolph) Mavin, and Mazie Coady; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his faithful friend, Mikey. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. John’s Episcopal Church (524 Washington Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417) with The Very Rev. Jared C. Cramer presiding. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Friday, January 15, 2015 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
