George Harvey Kirschbaum's Obituary
Mr. George Harvey Kirschbaum, age 85, of Nunica passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 12, 2024. He was born March 12, 1939, in Big Rapids to the late Henry and Margaret (Van Westrienen) Kirschbaum. He married June Arlene Porter on June 2, 1962, and she preceded him in death on November 14, 2018.
George was a diesel mechanic by trade, working for Peel Brothers and then Ryder Trucking until his retirement. He could fix anything, and he especially enjoyed tinkering with his cars, lawnmowers and snowmobiles. He loved being with his family and friends, and they loved being with him. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time outdoors, and he always enjoyed a classic country music song or an old western movie. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by four daughters: Janet (Kirt) Walbrink of Fruitport, Bonnie (Greg) Schippers of Grand Haven, Tracy (Tim) Luke of Spring Lake, and Karen Buckwald (Terry Tiles) of Grand Haven. Also surviving him are 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, several aunts and their families, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Forrest Kirschbaum and sister, Irene Porter.
A visitation will be held 4-7 pm Monday July 22, 2024, at the Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge Street, Spring Lake, MI 49456. Interment will take place in Nunica Cemetery. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com.
