George Fredrick Rawson Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. George Fredrick Rawson Jr., age 57, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Thursday, May 8, 2025 following a short battle against cancer. He was born in Muskegon on December 17, 1967 to George and Mary (Helm) Rawson Sr. George was a talented dancer and member of the Maycroft Square Tappers. While attending a clogging event, he met and fell in love with Vikki Lynn Huston. They married on May 16, 1992, and shared nearly 33 joyful years together. George worked as a Software Distribution Packaging Analyst at Trinity Health, where he was employed for 25 years. He cherished his faith, had a heart for missions, and was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church. George and Vikki spent the past six seasons as early snowbirds. They were avid travelers and looked forward to their yearly trip with friends to the cabin in Hersey, Michigan and lake house in LaFollett, Tennessee. They relished exploring the world and creating lasting memories. A true family man, George took great pride in his children and grandchildren, enthusiastically supporting their activities and spending quality time with them. He was also generous with his time and talents, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. In his free time, George enjoyed singing, boating, and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and University of Michigan football. He also enjoyed spending time with his buddies sharing a good bottle of bourbon and a cigar. George is survived by his wife, Vikki; children, Ryan (Holly Whiteman) Ostby, Collen Rawson, and Trevor Rawson; bonus daughter, Alicia Kelenske; grandchildren, Hannah (Jaiden Williams) Mellem, Cierra Mellem, Ashtyn Mellem, Madison Ostby, and Cameron Ostby; great-granddaughter, Syleya Williams; parents, George and Mary Rawson, Sr.; mother-in-law, Pat Huston; sister, Cindie (Roger) Taylor; brothers-in-law, Mike (Rochelle Naughton) Huston and Jeff (Joni) Huston; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as many other loving family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Mick Huston. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 19, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3225 Roosevelt Rd, Muskegon, MI 49441. VISITATION will be from 2-5 PM Sunday, May 18, 2025 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 and one hour prior to his service on Monday at church.
