I worked with Chief Smith form 2000 to 2005 when he retired. I remember many of conversations with him and he was always insightful, knowledgeable and fair. He didn't hold back when he had something ro say and presented himself as someone deserving of respect and admiration. To his family, i am proud to have served under him and hope you are proud of the man (officer) he was. He will truly be missed and he earned his robe and slippers. Job well done Sir!!!! We salute you.
I had the honor and privilege of serving under Chief Smith for several years in Muskegon Heights before he retired. I will always remember him as a man of honor and Integrity. My condolences to the Smith family.
