George "Arnie" Muma's Obituary
Mr. George A. “Arnie” Muma, age 84, passed away Thursday evening, February 26, 2009 in Muskegon. He was born September 19, 1924 in Casnovia Twp., and lived most of his life there before moving to Muskegon in 1984. Arnie worked at Brunswick for 25 years, and held several Patents with Brunswick. He was a self employed electrician, a fruit grower, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also volunteer for the Red Cross for 10 years, and had been the assistant manager of the Ravenna Bowling Lanes. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and was the historian of the American Legion Algot Johnson Post #69. Arnie was married to Margaret Dunneback, and she preceded him in death on December 8, 1982. On May 12, 1984 he married Stella M. (Tejchma)Spilka, and she survives him along with 2 children, Greg (Gwen) Muma of Ravenna, Deborah (Brian) Gurski of Mecosta; 4 step-children, Joan (Ray) Stark of Whitehall, Jim (Holly) Spilka of Onekema, Janet (Dr. Rodney Smith) Kemink of Ann Arbor, Joyce (Phil) Stafford of Colorado Springs, CO; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; 1 brother-in-law, Walt Tejchma of Grand Haven. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ben and Kenneth; and 1 sister, Marjorie Mervau. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Phillip A. Sliwinski presiding.
