George E. Noren's Obituary
George E. Noren, age 94, of Fruitport and formerly of Traverse City passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at a local care facility. He was born August 18, 1914 in Chicago, IL, to Frank and Hanna (Dahlman) Noren. He was married to the former Hazel Near who preceeded him in death in 1995. Earlier in his life he was married to Elise Waltman with whom they had two sons.
George was a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School and was the president and founder of Noren Pattern & Foundry Co. in Fruitport.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandy (Dr. Robert) Boyd of Wayland, MA; a son, Dennis Noren of Fruitport; a daughter-in-law, Sally Noren of Anchorage; nine grandchildren: Julie (Greg) Martin, Andy Noren, Emily (Gary) Peasley, Sarah Noren, Sarah (Jim) Spink, Elizabeth (Randy) Cobin, Sterling Noren, Eris (Seon) Noren, Seth Noren; eight great-grandchildren and good friend Betty Green of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by a son, David Noren, eleven years ago, and three brothers: Harold, Herb, and “Bud.”
The service for George will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Pastor Don Wood officiating. Friends may meet the family following the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Muskegon.
