George E. Rahn's Obituary
Mr. George E. Rahn, age 82, died Wednesday, September 15, 2004. He was born November 5, 1921 in Muskegon to Robert and Esther (Yarrington) Rahn, and had been a life resident of the area. Mr. Rahn worked for CWC at Plant #3 for 41 years, before retiring in 1983, and served as the Recording Secretary for the CWC Retirees for five years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and a member of the VFW Derezinski Post 7729, where he had served as Quartermaster for six years. Mr. Rahn was a member of Crestwood United Methodist Church and a former member of Wolf Lake United Methodist Church. On September 11, 1948, he married Eloise Lydeksen in Muskegon, and she preceded him in death on June 8, 1974. He also enjoyed doing things with the family, especially taking trips. SURVIVORS include 2 sons, Bruce Rahn of Muskegon, William (Donna) Rahn of Battle Creek; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (Ken) Stewart, Kristine Rahn, and Kevin Rahn, all of Battle Creek, Alisha (Derrin) Derrick of Grandville; 2 great-grandchildren, Heather and Danielle; 2 brothers, Frank (Jackie) Rahn of Muskegon, Donald (Beverly) Rahn of Norton Shores; 2 sisters, Mary Town and Lillian Janoviak both of Muskegon; sister-in-law, Shirley Rahn of Muskegon; brother-in-law, Gordon (Barb) Lydeksen of Owosso, MI; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Robert, William, and Raymond Rahn. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Crestwood United Methodist Church with Pastor Dianne Doten Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Egelston Twp. Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM this evening at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210.
