George L. Olson's Obituary
Mr. George L. Olson, age 83, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008 in Muskegon. He was born January 11, 1925 to Ernest N. and Anna M. (Swanson) Olson, and resided in Muskegon his entire life. Mr. Olson was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, having served in W.W.II. He was an aerial gunner on the B-24, and was shot down over Germany where he was a prisoner of war. He received numerous decorations from his time of service. Mr. Olson enjoyed doing yard work, fishing, hunting, and was an enthusiastic hockey fan. He was a faithful member of Forest Park Covenant Church, where he had been an active member of their grounds crew and usher for many years. On June 13, 1947 he married the former Rose V. Olsen in Muskegon and she survives him along with 3 children, Stuart (Rebecca) Olson of Fruitport, Garry (Charlotte) Olson of Norton Shores, Lisa (Douglas) Gay of Muskegon; 3 grandchildren, Kathryn (Kenneth) Patterson and children, Lauryn and Landon, Ryan (Kelly) Olson and children, Nina and Anders, Kyle (Kelly) Olson and son, Jack; brother, John (Jean) Olson of Muskegon, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Milton Olson; and sister, Helen Larson Fox. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be 11 AM Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Forest Park Covenant Church with Rev. Paul Bengtson officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 2 hours before the service, from 9-11 AM. Memorial Contributions to Veteran’s Service Center General Assistance Fund (165 E.
