Mrs. Georgene F. Barnes' Obituary
GEORGENE F. BARNES of Muskegon, age 91, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in Muskegon, MI after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was born on March 27, 1924 to George and Stella (Krause) Finch in Overbrook, Kansas. She married Charlie Barnes on October 12, 1946 in Kansas and then settled in Muskegon to live out their years together. Her husband preceded her in death on June 25, 1993. Georgene was a member of Lakeside Methodist Church and enjoyed her family, shuffle board, cooking and sewing prior to her illness. SURVIVORS include two sons, Charlie (Gisela) and David both of Muskegon; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Savage; Georgene was also preceded in death by her parents; three daughters, Georgia Newkirk, Pamela Horness and Evelyn Tardani; two brothers, Lloyd and Floyd Finch; two sisters, Lucy Herschell and Nellie Vaughn. Georgene's family wishes to give a special thanks to those who cared for her for many years at Sanctuary of the Oaks. A family memorial service will be held.
