George R. Baxter's Obituary
George R. Baxter, age 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home Monday morning, Nov. 28, 2011 following a long illness. He was born in Muskegon on September 10, 1946 to George B. and Ruby (Campbell) Baxter and was a graduate of Muskegon Heights H.S. George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Fruitport Eagles. Prior to his retirement in 2003, George was employed as a millwright at Dressers - Lift Tech International. He married the former Marlea “Marty” Guberg in Muskegon on August 9, 1968. Marty preceded him in death on June 6, 2006. He is survived by: one son, George C. (Denise) Baxter of Ravenna; a daughter, Denise Baxter of Muskegon; four grandchildren, Adam, Marcus, Amanda and Marlea; a great-granddaughter, Morgan; three brothers, William (Ruth) Baxter, Dennis (Cheryl) Baxter and Donald Baxter; and three sisters, Bonnie Baxter, Barbara (Ken) Clark and Julie (Bruce) Latsch all of Muskegon. The funeral service will be held at: The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100, 11:00 A.M., Friday, Rev. David Selleck officiating. Military rites will be held under the auspices of the Muskegon County Council of Veterans. Visitation: one hour prior. Interment: Mona View Cemetery. Memorial Contributions: to the family.
