Life has lost a true champion in Georgia. As a relative by marriage (my father married her husband Phil's sister, Ruth), I really didn't know Georgia as closely a I would later wish I had. Oh, yes, she was effervescent and the gracious hostess, always fun to be around. But, it wasn't until Ruth passed unexpectedly that I really got a chance to be near to and rely on her.
Upon hearing, she immediately came to Florida from Michigan to "help" and help she did. As a young man who had never dealt with the responsibilities of family tragedy, I relied upon her counsel and suggestions.
She provided a willing ear and helpful companion throughout the arrangements for my stepmother and resettling of my father. For those few days and weeks, I will be eternally grateful and appreciative to the Georgia who could make me laugh, share my innermost thoughts and worries, and offer sage advice and assistance.
When I read the plan for ceremonies celebrating her life, I just knew Georgia would be there.
Until we meet again,
