Gerald A. Duiser's Obituary
Mr. Gerald A. Duiser, age 93, beloved father, grandfather and brother went to be with his Lord on Saturday afternoon, January 30, 2016, at Christian Care. He was born July 26, 1922 in Muskegon to Nicholas and Hattie (Dykema) Duiser and had been a life resident. Gerald retired in 1974 from Sargent Specialty & Machine Co, which he had co-owned with his brother, James. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, serving as an Airplane Electrical Mechanic. He was a long time member of Unity Reformed Church where he served as both a Deacon and Elder; and member of its XYZ Group. Earlier in life he was an avid fisherman and hunter, along with being a life-long “Big Red Football” season ticket holder. On October 17, 1945, he married the former Agnes Hoffman; and she preceded him in death on May 6, 2014, after 68 years of marriage. SURVIVORS include his constant canine companion, “Baby”; three children, Julie (Jerry) Galbreath, Bruce (Barb) Duiser and Patti (Mark) Peterson; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Gen (Rev. Jim) Bos and Ardis Bos. He was preceded in death by his brother, James. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Unity Reformed Church (1521 Porter Rd.) with Pastor Kyle DeYoung officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION with the Duiser family will be 5:00 – 8:00PM Wednesday at the Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100); and one-hour prior to the service on Thursday at church.
