Gerald W. "Jerry" Carlson's Obituary
Gerald W. “Jerry” Carlson, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 17, 1932, to Oscar and Margaret (Leaf) Carlson in Muskegon, MI, where he remained a lifelong resident. Jerry graduated from Muskegon Heights High School, Class of 1950. On March 3, 1951, he married the love of his life, Betty McCauley, in Muskegon. Together, they shared 66 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and devotion. Betty preceded him in death on June 3, 2017. Jerry was a dedicated partner and employee of B & B Design Inc. for 35 years before retiring at the age of 58. He was also a longtime member of the Vikings Lodge, where he cherished time spent with friends and the joy of shared laughter. An avid sportsman, Jerry enjoyed golfing and bowling, and at the age of 50, he discovered a love for tennis. Demonstrating his characteristic determination and enthusiasm, he built a home complete with a tennis court to sharpen his skills. Jerry will be remembered most for his quick wit, infectious humor, and the way he could light up a room with laughter. His warmth, charm, and sense of fun left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Dianne (Gary) Nuismer; son, Dana (Nancy) Carlson; daughter-in-law, Vicki Carlson; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Betty Carlson; son, Douglas Carlson; and brother, Darwin (Nancy) Carlson.
