Gerald E. Malott's Obituary
Gerald "Jerry" Eugene Malott, 69, of Muskegon, MI, passed away on July 27, 2023. He was born on January 14, 1954, in Grand Rapids, MI. Jerry was a kind, loving, and generous man, known for his gentle spirit and subtle wit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Melissa Dunham Malott; his daughter, Greta Malott Alsteen; his sons, Erik Malott and Nicholas Malott (Angela Malott); and his grandchildren, Matthew, Caleb, Hailey, Wesley, and Addison. He is also survived by his niece/daughter, Michelle Aiken (Matthew Aiken); his nephew/grandchildren, Alex, Aiden, and Jacob; his brothers, Donald Malott (Glen Kunckel Malott) and Larry Malott (Melinda Malott); his nieces and nephews; and his many adopted children and grandchildren. Jerry's lifelong best friend was Bill Capp (Sue Capp), whom have known each other since kindergarten. Jerry attended Oakridge High School and went on to further his education at MCC. He dedicated many years of his life to his career, working as a janitorial services provider at Mercy Hospital and later as a parts pro at AutoZone before retiring. Jerry found solace and strength in his faith and was an active member of Fruitport Christian Reformed Church. When he wasn't busy with work, Jerry enjoyed hobbies such as bowling and golfing. He also delighted in watching his favorite sports teams, the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Tigers. Jerry had a compassionate heart and volunteered his time at the church food pantry. He was also a loving grandfather and happily played the role of chauffeur to his grandchildren. A Memorial Service to celebrate Jerry's life will be held 3:00PM on August 13, 2023, at Fruitport Christian Reformed Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 – 3:00PM. There will be a small luncheon after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to be made to your local food pantry, as Jerry believed in extending help and support to those in need.
