Gerald LeRoy "Jerry" Sattory's Obituary
Gerald LeRoy “Jerry” Sattory, age 81, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. He was born May 16, 1938 in Muskegon to William F. and Thelma R. (Schliewe) Sattory and lived in Muskegon most of his life. On July 2, 1960, he married Lois A. Judd in Muskegon and she survives him. Jerry attended Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, CA and worked for Paris Studios for a time. He also owned and operated American Heritage Photography Studio. Jerry worked as a custodial supervisor for Mona Shores Public Schools and retired after many years of service. Jerry and Lois were former members of Christ Community Church in Spring Lake. They are also members of the Vikings Linne Lodge #57 in Muskegon. Jerry was a proud lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed time spent at the cabin where he would hunt, fish, ride his quad, snowmobiles and motorcycle. Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Lois A. Sattory; 2 children, SherriSue Ann (James Jr.) Johnson, Gerald LeRoy “Jerry” (Amy) Sattory II; 5 grandchildren, Josh Johnson, Erin Johnson, Elliot Johnson, Paige (Alex) Crouch, Rae Sattory; 2 great-grandchildren, Keith Woolery, Reaghan Johnson; 2 brothers-in-law, Roy VanderScheer, Bob (Berniece “Red”) Judd, 2 sisters-in-law, Mae Konya, and MaryLou Judd; and his dog, “Buddy”. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Sheila VanderScheer. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 22, 2020 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Service, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Pastor Carlos Ramos officiating. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
