Gerald Edwin Wier Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Gerald Edwin “Jerry” Wier, Sr., age 59, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at his home. He was born January 25, 1954 in Muskegon to Robert and Elma (Kidner) Wier, Sr. and lived in the area his entire life. Jerry was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in 1975. Jerry was a hard worker and worked as a mill wright for Wayburn Bartell in Grand Haven for 25 years. He later worked 10 years for Sappi Fine Paper and retired in 2010 from Delphi in Grand Rapids after 2 years. He was a proud UAW union member. Jerry enjoyed the outdoors and hunting or sitting around a bonfire and feeding the squirrels. He was a Harley-Davidson biker and enjoyed spending time at the family cottage at Wolf Lake in Baldwin when he was able. Jerry spent a lot of time cruising the ovals on his bicycle at Pere Marquette Park or walking the pier. SURVIVORS include his children, Kristine (Eric) Gove Scott of Spring Lake, Gerald E. “Jay” (Autumn) Wier, Jr. of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren, Tyler Gove, Jayden, Trent, and Caleb Wier; 1 brother, James (Virginia) Wier of Muskegon and 1 sister, Carol Harpe of Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Robert Wier, Jr. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 3:00 PM Monday, December 23, 2013 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100.
