Mr. Gerald R. Zimmer, Sr.'s Obituary
Gerald “Jerry” R. Zimmer, Sr., age 82, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016. He was born on February 8, 1934 to Mitchel and Anna (Judson) Zimmer in Muskegon. On August 27, 1956 he married the former Phyllis L. Charland, who preceded him in death in 2006. Jerry was a proud veteran of the United States Army; serving during the Korean War. Jerry was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and the Vikings. His passion in life was playing golf; he was in many leagues with his golfing buddies. He was a very special and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jerry is survived by his sons, Gerald “Jerry” Zimmer, Jr., Doug (Kim) Zimmer; grandchildren, Rob (Meagan), Jacob (Tara), Kyle (Sara), Marci; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Finley, Rayne, Rodney, Rich; sisters-in-law, Marilyn and Pat and special friend, Bill Fortenbacher. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brothers, William and Theodore. VISITATION for Jerry will take place on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231-798-1100) from 6-8:30 pm. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will take place on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
