Gerald A. "Jerry" Meyers' Obituary
Mr. Gerald A. “Jerry” Meyers, age 82, died Friday evening, January 18, 2008, in Muskegon. He was born April 4, 1925 in Muskegon to Peter and Margaret (Boyink) Meyers and had been a life resident of the area. He was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army; and had been a postal clerk for the U. S. Post Office for 37 years prior to his retirement in 1982. He was a former member of East Muskegon Christian Reformed Church where he served as an Elder & Deacon and sang in the choir. He was now a member of First Christian Reformed Church, Wood Chapter 11 of D.A.V. and of the Postal Retirees. On May 22, 1947 he married the former Lawain Wolting and she preceded him in death on November 12, 1993. He was also preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Ethel Meyers and brother, Raymond Meyers. SURVIVORS include his 4 children, Janice (Wesley) Weesies of Montague, Donna (David) Van Dam of Rochester Hills, MI, Edward (Shawn) Meyers and Carol (Michael) Prince of Muskegon; 10 grandchildren, Ryan (Lindsey) and Scott Weesies, Eric and Michael Van Dam, Angie, Lanessa, Shawna and Faith Meyers, Steven and Rachel Prince; 1 brother, Paul (Janet) Meyers of Grand Haven; 3 sisters, Doris (Richard) Beishuizen of Muskegon, and Marilyn (Chris) Postma and Jean (Jerry) Talsma of Rudyard, MI. SERVICES will be 11 AM Tuesday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey Street, 231-798-1100 with Rev. Michael Borgert officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Monday and 1 hour prior to the service. CONTRIBUTIONS to Western Michigan Christian High School Endowment Fund, or the Muskegon Rescue Mission will be appreciated.
