Geraldine V. Brakel's Obituary
Mrs. Geraldine V. Brakel, age 94, passed away early Monday, February 27, 2012 in Muskegon. She was born July 6, 1917 in Ashland, KY to George and Carrie (Boggs) Field, and resided in Traverse City, MI most of her life, before moving to Muskegon in 2005. Geraldine worked at Traverse City Iron Works for 24 years before retiring in 1980. While living in Traverse City, she was very active in her church and helped with Forgotten Man Ministries. She attended Fellowship Reformed Church after moving to Muskegon. Geraldine enjoyed gardening, cooking and camping. In June 1936, she married Tracy Brakel, and he preceded her in death on April 30, 1983. SURVIVORS include her daughter, Darlene (James) Wood of Muskegon; 3 grandchildren, James Wood, Jr., Jeffrey (Dawn) Wood both of Muskegon; Kimberly Wood of Byron Center; and 5 great grandchildren, Mike, Jennifer, Nathan, Owen, and Julia Wood; and great great granddaughter, Makenna Wood. Geraldine was also preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother; and 3 sisters. The MEMORIAL SERVICE for Geraldine will be 1PM Saturday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. Muskegon, MI 49442 231-726-5210 with Rev. Jerry Worrel officiating.
