She attended Pickensville Training School until she graduated in 1962. Geraldine confessed in Christ at an early age and attended New Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Pickensville, Alabama under the leadership of Rev. Burl Jones. She was active in her home church until she left Alabama. She moved to Muskegon Heights, Michigan in 1963. She began to work for Mercy Hospital where they affectionately called her “Geri”. She worked for Mercy Hospital for 45 years before retiring; during her tenure, she received her associate degree in business from Baker College of Muskegon.
