Geraldine "Gerry" Michael's Obituary
Geraldine Donnie “Gerry” Michael, age 88, of Spring Lake passed away Friday, April 28, 2017, at Heartwood Lodge. She was born December 6, 1928, in Grand Haven to Arthur and Edna Mae (Redford) DeWitt, and she married Charles J. Michael on March 22, 1947, in Spring Lake. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2011.
Gerry worked for Spring Lake Schools as head cook for 21 years. Her other interests were crocheting, even when she lost her sight.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Kathy Michael of Spring Lake, and Debbie (Mike) Dreese of Port Huron; two sons, Terry (Ike) Michael of Hudsonville, and Mark (Lynda) Michael of Mesa, AZ; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Dora Velik of Spring Lake; sisters-in-laws, Mary DeWitt of Spring Lake, and Helen Michael of Coopersville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Michael on February 19, 2012, and two brothers, Ken and Howard DeWitt.
A memorial service for Gerry will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2017, at The Spring Lake Chapel, 213 E. Savidge, 616-842-6100 with Rev. Doug Bytwerk officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at The Spring Lake Chapel. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.
