Geraldine L. "Gerri" Vledder's Obituary
Geraldine L. “Gerri” Vledder, age 73, passed away early Friday morning, October 2, 2020, after courageously battling cancer for several months. She was born on April 27, 1947 to Joseph and Gladys (Schaallema) Vledder in Muskegon, MI and has been a life-long resident. She was the first graduating class of Mona Shores high school. Gerri continued with her education at Daniel’s School of Cosmetology. She worked for 20 plus years self-employed as a cosmetologist and she also made and sold porcelain figurines. Gerri had a talent for arts and crafts and truly enjoyed making figurines and spending her time at art fairs. She was blessed with a green thumb and took pride working in her yard and gardening. Gerri was also a fantastic cook and loved baking various flavors of pies. She will always be remembered for her generous nature and good heart. She was always willing to help others out even on her grumpiest days. Gerri was a tender-loving soul that will truly be missed. She is survived by her daughter, Becky (Todd) Sowles; 2 grandchildren, Kayla Sowles and Hayden Sowles; 2 sisters, JoAnn Ritsema and Marva Paul; brother-in-law, Vern Rake; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and best friend, Shadow. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph (Gladys) Vledder; 2 sisters, Marilyn Unseld and Marjorie Rake; 3 brothers-in-law, Clarence Ritsema, Charles Paul and Gus Unseld. Arrangements by The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd, Muskegon, MI 49441.
