Geraldine E. McAuley's Obituary
Mrs. Geraldine E. (Potter) McAuley, age 84, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 22, 2004 at her home. She was born September 6, 1920 to Conrad and Leta (Budd) Bayer in Muskegon, and lived almost all of her life here. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Altar Guild. She was a very caring person, especially for the less fortunate for whom she knitted many pairs of mittens and hats. She was also very involved with making quilts and blankets for Project Linus, and had been active with the Senior’s Lunch Program at Fellowship Reformed Church. Geraldine was married to Neil McAuley who preceded her in death in 1977. SURVIVORS include 5 children, Loel (Ardith) Potter of Muskegon, Karen (Pat) Benham of Muskegon, Jerry Potter of Texas, Janice “Jan” (Rich) Marshall of Muskegon, Burton Potter of Grand Rapids; daughter-in-law, Judith “Judy” Potter of Muskegon; step-son, Dan (Ruby) McClellan of Hart; 2 step-daughters, Pat (Richard) Sweet of Muskegon, Fritz (Don) Schiele of Nunica; 27 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Donald Muston of CA, Kenneth (Connie) Muston of Muskegon, James (Joyce) Muston of Twin Lake; 1 sister, Phyllis (John) TerBorg of Baltimore, MD. She was also preceded in death by a son, Alfred Potter, and a step-son, Jerry McAuley. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Monday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Rev. Robert J. Conradt officiating. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.,737 Apple Ave.,(231) 726-5210 will be from 7-9 PM Sunday evening, and 1 hour prior to the service at church on Monday.
