Gerald R. "Gerry" Allen's Obituary
Mr. Gerald R. “Gerry” Allen, age 89, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Mercy Hospital. He was born on May 13, 1920 to Clifford and Lavina (Swineheart) Allen in Muskegon. He worked for Shaw Crane for 17 years and retired from Browne – Morse in 1951 working in management. Mr. Allen had a love for nature, fishing and working in the garden. He also enjoyed cutting and stacking, with organized patience, the wood that was used to heat the home. Mr. Allen was a member of the V.F.W. Post #3256 in Montague and the Muskegon Heights Eagles. On February 17, 1945 he married, Marneit Herbstreith in Muskegon and she survives him along with 4 children, Judith Allen; Dale (Marsha) Allen; Lynne Allen and Daniel Allen; 1 grandson, Devan Allen; 2 brothers, Leo (Louise) Allen and Forest (Doris) Allen. Following his wishes cremation has taken place.
