Gerrit H. Yonker - "Yonk"'s Obituary
Mr. Gerrit J. Yonker Jr., age 81, passed away March 2, 2004 at his home in Norton Shores. He was born August 6, 1922 in Muskegon to Gerrit H. Sr. and Grace (Cook) Yonker. He has resided in the Muskegon area his entire life. Yonk was a member of Teamsters 299 prior to going into business for himself. On September 29, 1951 Yonk married the former Betty Berridge in East Lansing, and she survives him along with 4 children; Bill (Janet) Yonker, Bruce Yonker both of Muskegon, Vicki Yonker of Santa Monica, CA, Barbara (Michael) Manor of Muskegon; 4 Grandchildren, Michael, Katie, Lindsey, and Jesse. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Henry Yonker, Gordon Yonker. SERVICES will be Friday at 1:00 PM at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave., 231-726-5210 with Rev. John Brown officiating. There will be a military service at the Funeral Home immediately following the committal service. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, 6-9:00 PM.
