Mrs. Gertrude Mary Greenberg's Obituary
Mrs. Gertrude Mary Greenberg, age 95, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 in Grand Haven, MI. She was born in Newark, NJ on June 13, 1919 to Max and Ida (Goodman) Kopeloff. Gertrude was a member of Temple B’Nai Israel where she participated in Sisterhood and taught Sunday school. She was active in Hadassah and a past-president of the Muskegon Area Women’s Dental Society. While raising her three daughters, Gertrude worked with her husband, Dr. A.H. Greenberg, as a biller and dental assistant. She loved to read and learn, especially about history and WWII. She was a Shakespeare scholar. Gertrude was a sweet and gentle lady and will be remembered for being selfless, humble, and wise. Gertrude married Dr. Arthur H. Greenberg in November of 1938 and they were married for 71 years before he passed away in 2010. She is survived by their three daughters, Phyllis (Harvey) Gendler, Marian (Alan) Siegel and Jeanette (Steve) Waite; six grandchildren, Dan (Lisa) Gendler, Sam (Julie) Gendler, Bart Siegel, Elizabeth Siporin, Mark (Lorin) Siegel and Ben Waite; five great-grandchildren, Ellyn, Karl, Justin, Zoey and Henry. In addition to her husband, Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Arthur Kopeloff and one sister, Sylvia Kopeloff. The family appreciates the loving care she received at Simarron for the last six years. Services for Mrs. Greenberg will be private. Burial will be in Mona View Cemetery. MEMORIALS in Gertrude’s name may be made to Temple B’Nai Israel.
