Gertrude Kochmanski's Obituary
Mrs. Gertrude Kochmanski, age 72, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009 in Traverse City, MI. She was born April 4, 1937 in Benzie County to Lloyd and Maudie (Margetson) Kracht and resided in Muskegon for most of her life before moving back to Benzie County. Gertrude loved crafts and especially helping others. In 1958, she married Henry “Hank” Kochmanski, and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2001. SURVIVORS include daughter, Alice (Wayne) Sowles of Montague; 2 granddaughters, Lindsay Wierema and Kristen Wierema; sister, Erna (Herbert) Lentz of Beulah, MI; 2 brothers, Lyle Kracht of Waterloo, WI, and Max (Ellen) Kracht of Beulah, MI; several nieces and nephews that she cherished; and a very special friend and caregiver, Gertie Saffron. Gertrude was also preceded in death by her parents, and 2 brothers, Clifford and Kelly K. Kracht. Memorial Services will be announced at a later date. Memorial Contributions in Gertrude’s name, may be made to The Maples Activity Fund c/o Benzie County Medical Care Facility (210 Maple St. Frankfort, MI 49625).
