Gertrude Carol Walhout's Obituary
Mrs. Gertrude Carol Walhout, age 85, went to be with her Lord on Friday morning, May 2, 2008. She was a life resident of Muskegon, born March 14, 1923 to Garrit & Jennie (Noordhof) DeYoung. Gertrude was a life member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church and had been a member of its choir and Mary-Martha Society. She was also a member of the Muskegon County Nature Club. As a young lady, Gertrude had worked at Shaw-Box Crane and then prior to her retirement had been a cook at Muskegon Christian School for 9 years. On June 10, 1949 she married John J. Walhout and he survives her along with 3 daughters, Carol (Randy) Grasmeyer of Midland, MI, Linda (Robert) Paasche and Marcia Walhout of Grand Rapids; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson and by 1 sister, Betty (Rev. Neal) Punt of Allendale, MI. SERVICES will be 11 AM Monday at Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church (695 Allen Avenue) with her brother-in-law, Rev. Neal Punt, officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION with Gert’s family will be 2-4 & 6:30-8:30PM Sunday at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442 (231-726-5210). MEMORIAL GIFTS to Muskegon Christian School or Western Michigan Christian High School will be appreciated.
