Gertrude K. Lorey's Obituary
Mrs. Gertrude Katherine Lorey, age 89 passed away Monday morning at the Harbor Hospice – Poppen House following a short illness. Gertrude was born on October 9, 1918 in Muskegon to Gerritt and Florence (Veltman) Olthoff. She married Harold E. Lorey in Muskegon on October 7, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1991. In earlier years, she was employed at Sealed Power Co. and later assisted Harold in the running of Lorey Welding Co. and was very active in Muskegon’s Youth Hockey Program founded by Harold. She was also a member of Central United Methodist Church. She is survived by: daughter, Charlotte (Dr. Reinhard) Hoven of Blomberg, Germany and their children, Richard, Patrick and Carolyn; son, Michael (Susan) Lorey of Muskegon and their children, Kristin (Zach) Fricke and Katie Lorey along with five great-grandchildren residing in Muskegon and Germany. The funeral service will be held at: The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 Thursday, 11:00 A.M., Rev. Dr. Randall Hansen officiating. Visitation with the family will be, Wednesday, 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. For a more lasting memorial please consider Harbor Hospice. She will be laid to rest in Norton Cemetery.
