Mrs. Gertrude L. Barkman age 94, passed away early Saturday morning, July 31, 2004, in Muskegon. She was born February 13, 1910 to Joseph and Anna (Hemmes) Kleeves in Muskegon and had been a life resident. Gertrude had attended Grant Reformed Church and Central Reformed Church of Muskegon; and had been employed as a bookkeeper for the Muskegon Children’s Home for over 33 years. She was married to Fred I. Barkman and he preceded her in death. SURVIVORS include, 1 son, Ron and his wife Lois Barkman of N. Hutchinson Island, FL and Canadian Lakes, MI; 3 grandchildren Michael (Cheryl) Barkman of Mt. Airy, NC, Michele (Wes) Walker of Columbiana, AL and Christopher Barkman of Ft. Pierce,FL; 3 great-grandchildren, Matthew Barkman and Lauren Barkman of Mt. Airy, NC and Annika Walker of Columbiana, AL;1 sister, Katherine Howerda of Muskegon.
