Gertrude M. Carlson's Obituary
Mrs. Gertrude M. Carlson, age 90, passed away Friday, June 15, 2007 at her home. She was born May 12, 1917 in Elgin, IL. to William and Anna Elizabeth (Ryan) Holton. Mrs. Carlson was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a long time choir member. She was a founding member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and was a former president of Home and School. Gertrude was known for her beautiful china painting and teaching, and for her poetry writing. She loved traveling to Europe and reading English Literature, playing bridge with friends and square dancing. On October 28, 1939 she married Erhard Carlson in Muskegon and he survives her along with 2 children, Thomas and Teresa Carlson of Beverly Hills, MI and Wayne and Kathleen Anne Carlson of Lansing, MI; 1 granddaughter, Licia and Jeremiah Frank of Boston; 1 great-grandson, Julian Carlson Frank of Boston; 1 sister, Mary Hessel of Muskegon and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bruce Carlson who passed away June 1, 2007 and 1 sister, Dorothy Stamp. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 10:30 AM Wednesday June 20, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Father William A. Langlois officiating.
