Mr. Gilbert L. Mosher Sr.'s Obituary
Gilbert L. Mosher Sr., age 91 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 10, 2022. He was born August 2, 1930 to Marvin and Caroline (Curtice) Mosher in Fremont, Michigan. On April 19, 1948 he married Cynthia Tucker from Nashville, Tennessee, in Franklin, Kentucky and the couple spent a wonderful 70 years, 5 months and one day together. Gilbert served in the US Air Force for three years, worked at Shaw Walker office furniture and wood plant manufacturer for 30 years and spent 24 years as an independent operator for a large trucking company. He was a lifelong member of the Muskegon Seventh-day Adventist Church from 1951 to present. He served in multiple leadership roles including being an Elder, Sabbath school teacher, deacon, pathfinder leader and church school board chairman. He also served as a contractor/builder for two mission trips to Tanzania, Africa, twice to Nepal, once to Peru and twice to Costa Rica where he helped build churches and medical clinics. He was also part of the SDA worldwide ministry and had the privilege of teaching and baptizing many of the people he served. Gil loved playing various instruments including the trumpet and trombone and he loved to sing in the choir and with his family. He enjoyed flying, deer hunting, fishing, many sports as well as long walks on the beach with his kids when they were young. In his life he strived to share Jesus and His love to everyone, especially his care givers as they ministered to him in his home later in his life. During their life together Gilbert and Cynthia had five children. He is survived by Dr. Gilbert (Sandy) Mosher Jr., Carol (Dr. Edgel) Phillips, Marjorie (Dr. Glen) Fournier and Cynthia (Jerome Jasso) Mosher; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; his brother Carlton’s wife Shirley (Lichte) Mosher, his sister Paula Tarbox, and two brothers Marvin (Bud and Wendy) Mosher and Jim (Stewart and Sherra) Mosher. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Carlton Mosher, his wife Cynthia (Tucker) Mosher and his second daughter Sylvia (Denise) Mosher Cesena. A Funeral Service will be held 10:30AM on Thursday, July 14 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 49444, 231-798-1100. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, July 13 from 5:00-7:30PM.
