Gilpha M. Dumas' Obituary
Gilpha M. Dumas went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 24, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was known to her family as “Butchye” and to friends as “Sammy”. She was born on March 31, 1938 to John and Teresa (DeVries) Wilson in Muskegon. After attending Baker College, Sammy lived and worked in New York City and returned to Muskegon in 1959. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a giving soul and donated her time and talents to her church family. In her free time, she was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. On September 19, 1959, she married, LaVerne Dumas and he survives her along with two children, Cindy (Gary) Britton and Eric (Robert LaRocca) Dumas; 5 grandchildren, Jeremy (Lauren Biksacky) Shields , Patrick (Nicole) Shields, Michael Shields, Stacey (Nate) Long, Nick Britton and sister, Rachel Christiansen. Sammy was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Following her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service was held.
