Gladys K. Golden's Obituary
Gladys K. Golden, age 97, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020 in Muskegon. She was born on September 2, 1923 to Clarence and Vada (Bliss) Husted in Fruitport. Gladys was a member of Fruitport Congregational Church where she taught Sunday school and was involved with the youth group program. Prior to 1986, Gladys worked as a clerk in the pharmacy at Meijer for 17 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, walking, visiting and reading. Gladys was a past member of the Moose Lodge, past president of Rebecca’s Club and volunteered with PTA and band parents. She married Marvin Golden in 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1981. SURVIVORS include daughter, Judith (Arthur Jr.) Burke and son, Gary (Jackie) Golden; grandchildren, Ronda Nielsen Burke, A. Ross (Michelle) Burke, Richard (Cari Hurst) Burke, Jacob (Sara) Golden and Leah (Marc) Nummedor; great-grandchildren, Michael Nielsen, Desarae (Bob) VanDyke, Arthur Burke IV, Alden Burke, Trenton Nummedor, Kaleb Nummedor, Corbin Nummedor, Taylor Burke, Kyle Burke and Bella Golden; great-great grandchild, Mahayla VanDyke and very dear friend, Shirley Girard. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce Plews and brother, David Husted. Due to the covid pandemic a private family service will be held. The family plans to have a public memorial service at a later date. Memorials can be directed to Every Woman’s Place and Fruitport Congregational Church (9 S. 8th Ave @ Park St.) in Gladys’s name.
