Gladys J. VanderZwaag's Obituary
Mrs. Gladys VanderZwaag, age 83, of Nunica passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013. She was born May 18, 1930 in Muskegon to Maynard and Ada (Sartwell) Hart. On July 1, 1949 she married Rudolph VanderZwaag in Spring Lake and he preceded her in death on June 5, 1996.
Gladys was a member of Fruitport Congregational Church and a former TOPS Queen. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed her trips to the Senior Center and to the casino. Over everything Gladys loved her family.
She is survived by four daughters: Jerri (Rick) Snyder of Nunica, Beverly (Larry) Deal of Spring Lake, JoAnne (Paul) Lundmark of Hammond, IN, Judith Keyes of Spring Lake; two sons, Wayne (Robbin) VanderZwaag of Nunica, Richard (Jackie) VanderZwaag of Holly, MI; thirty-eight grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Bernice Parsons and Ruth Ann Miller; and a brother-in-law, George Lakotos. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ellen Lakotos and Carol Parcham.
Funeral Services for Gladys will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Fruitport Congregational Church (3212 W. Pontaluna Road) with Rev. Ronald DePung officiating. Interment will take place in Lakeshore Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Gladys may be given to Sanctuary at the Shore Nursing Home or Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
