Gladys M. Furda's Obituary
Mrs. Gladys M. Furda, age 97, passed away June 21, 2011 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was born on October 5, 1913 to Clarence and Bertha (Davenport) Patterson. Books were her best friends, but she also enjoyed feeding and watching birds, gardening and baking. Mrs. Furda was best known for her blueberry pies and chocolate chip cookies. She graduated from Mercy Central School of Nursing and kept her license active until 1998. Mrs. Furda worked both in hospital health care and private practice for Dr. Oden. In April of 1945 she married George Furda and he preceded her in death on March 5, 1997. SURVIVORS include nieces and nephews, Donald (Maggie) Miller, Gordon Westenfelder and Lois Frausto, along with many other great nieces and nephews. We were all loved as if we were her own. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00AM Friday, June 24, 2011 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Rev’d Thomas C.H. Scott officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to Pathfinder Library in Baldwin or Habitat for Humanity of Lake County would be appreciated. Burial will take place at Restlawn Cemetery.
