Gladys Margaret Derby's Obituary
Mrs. Gladys Margaret Derby, age 87, passed away Monday, November 30, 2009 at Mercy Hospital. She was born November 4, 1922 in Victory Township (Scottville) to Irving and Gladys (Campbell) Pratt. She married Donald C. Derby in Muskegon on January 18, 1947. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2006. Margaret was formerly employed as an office manager/bookkeeper for Mart Dock, Sealed Power, Meijer Thrifty Acres and most recently for Sun Valley, Pine Island and Derby Sales. She was a former member of the Sweet Adelines and many other social and benevolent organizations. She had grown up on the family farm in Scottville and had a special fondness for horses. SURVIVORS include: 3 sons, Darrell C. (Sandra) Derby of Fruitport, Dewayne C. (Peggy L.) Derby of Twin Lake and Douglas C. (Peggy A.) Derby of Fremont; 6 grandchildren, Adam (Stephanie) Derby, Jackie Derby, Eric (Kim) Derby, Melanie (Scott) Wiggers, Cammy Bazinau and Steve Widing; 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Albert Pratt. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100. Visitation will be Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. MEMORIAL contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
