Glen A. Giant's Obituary
Glen A. Giant, age 75, passed from life through death to life eternal unexpectedly Saturday, March 7, 2015 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born August 27, 1939 in Muskegon to Herschel and Moneth (Hess) Giant. Glen was a graduate of Grand Haven High School and following graduation started active duty in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Sealed Power and DANA Corporation for over 30 years prior to his retirement. Glen was a member of Spring Lake Presbyterian Church where he also volunteered at the food pantry. He was a former Boy Scout and leader for many years, enjoyed gardening, going for long walks, wood working, biking, fishing, spending time with family and loved being a grandpa. On April 6, 1962 he married Carol Welton in Fruitport and she survives him along with 2 children: Cindy (Terry) DeGroot of Jenison, Todd (Kathy) Giant of Norton Shores; 5 grandchildren: Christopher and Matthew DeGroot, Kristina Giant; Shane Rebedew, and Alexa Rebedew; brother, Marshall (Julie) Giant; sister, Jackie Vorholzer; sisters-in-law, Mary Giant, Marie (John) Babich, Joyce Forton, and Pat Forton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Giant; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Henry Vorholzer, Marilyn (Beryl) Stromberg, and Dick (Ruth) Welton. SERVICES for Glen will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lary Jackson officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Friday, March 13, 2015 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. Burial will take place in Fruitport Cemetery.
