Glenn A. Baker's Obituary
Mr. Glenn A. Baker, age 86, passed away Friday, November 13, 2009 at home. He was born February 22, 1923 in Raymond, MN to Arthur and Carrie (Meyers) Baker, and resided in the area for most of his life. Mr. Baker was U.S. Army Veteran having served in World War II where he received the Purple Heart. He belonged to the VFW, American Legion, and the Old News Boys. Mr. Baker was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where he helped build the education wing and gathering room at church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and traveling in their motor home. Mr. Baker was Vice-President of Lorin Industries for 34 years, before retiring in 1986. On July 20, 1943 he married the former Marjorie Ghezzi, and she survives him along with 5 children, Sandra (James) Zahrt, Thomas (fiancée, Geri Muskovin) Baker, Timothy (Cathy) Baker, Gary (Jean) Baker all of Muskegon, and Theodore (Jenny) Baker of New Era; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; and sister, Shirley Koekkoek. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Myron Baker and Juane Baker; and sisters, Muriel Bond and Leona Tuftadal. The FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11AM Monday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (1132 Southern Ave.) with Rev. Karen Biggerstaff officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial Contributions to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
