Mrs. Gloria Ruth Black's Obituary
Mrs. Gloria Ruth Black, age 87, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI on December 17, 1928 to James V. and Ruth E. (Frederick) Sparkes. Gloria graduated from North Muskegon High School in 1947. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and listening and collecting music. Gloria loved to study the Bible and had a deep Love for the Lord. She also deeply loved her family and took great joy in her children and grandchildren. On March 31, 1948, Gloria married John L. Black in Sparta, MI and he preceded her in death on March 21, 2013. She is survived by her children, Clara (Walter) Lesiw, Sarah (Mark) Wheeler, Laura (Brian) Waldron and Martha Eilers; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Gloria was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan (Black) Bolt; a son-in-law, Ray Eilers; her parents; a brother, Victor Sparkes and a sister, Diana Sparkes Sealey. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, January 8, 2016 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., 231-726-5210. VISITATION will be one hour prior to her service. Burial will be in Laketon Township Cemetery.
