Gloria Carney's Obituary
Mrs. Gloria Carney, age 93, passed away January 29, 2020 at Roosevelt Park Nursing Center. Gloria was born November 20, 1926 in Fruitport to Ignatz and Franciska (Caputa) Matuszewski. She was a 1943 graduate of Muskegon Heights High School. Gloria spent more than 25 years with Kaydon Corporation as an inspector, retiring in 1989. In her retirement, she was a member of the West Michigan Boot Scooters, and enjoyed gardening and trips to Michigan casinos. Gloria was a great mom and an actively involved grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Carey (Al) Curtice of Delton and Sandra Reinecke of Muskegon; five grandchildren, Eric (Stephanie) Curtice, Andra Curtice, Leann Heywood, Michelle (Colin) Ferris and David (Jessica) Reinecke; eight great-grandchildren, Trevor (Christine) Curtice, Evan Curtice, Lauren Newington, Trinity Newington, Grayson Reinecke, Morgan Reinecke, Onora Ferris and Breccan Ferris; and many nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Matuz; sisters, Olga Madison, Alexandria Carlson, Florence Shaefer, Louise Locking and Margaret Bunker. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 3, at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, 49441. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the Muskegon Rescue Mission or Hospice of Michigan.
