Gloria M. Corpe's Obituary
Gloria M. Corpe, age 94, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 at her home. She was born July 15, 1926 in Muskegon Heights, MI to John and Mary (Helpiansky) Lehan. On March 26, 1949, she married Garth Corpe in Muskegon and together they resided in Norton Shores until moving to Detroit in 1967, returning to Norton Shores to be with family in 1993. Garth preceded her in death on April 19, 2004. Gloria worked as a bookkeeper for Morton Manufacturing in Muskegon Heights and later worked over 25 years for Dinser Flower Co. in Detroit retiring in 1993. Gloria was a member of Mona Shores Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her Saturday shopping with her sister. Garth and Gloria were proud to have played golf in all 50 states and enjoyed traveling abroad. Survivors include 2 grandchildren, Stacey (fiancé, Kazuki Yamamura) Corpe, Alan (Rhonda) Corpe; and 3 great-grandchildren, Dustyn Corpe, Ryan Kooiman, and Elliot Yamamura. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garth; her son, Dennis Corpe; her parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation will be held 12-2pm Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. A Celebration of Life will also be held 7:00 PM until dusk on Friday, September 11, 2020 at the Family’s Residence. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
