Gloria J. Durkee's Obituary
Gloria J. Durkee, age 74, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Christian Care in Muskegon. She was born on July 24, 1950, to Abel and Eunice (Bensinger) Portenga in Muskegon. She worked in accounts payable for Consumers Energy until her retirement. Gloria enjoyed gardening, going for walks, and bird-watching. In 1972, she married Dwight Durkee in Muskegon, and he preceded her in death on July 1, 2011. SURVIVORS include her brother, Rich (Sandra) Portenga; brothers-in-law, Dick, Hal, and Kevin (Kenna); nieces, Emily (Ryan) and Andrea; and nephew, Craig (Paige). Gloria was also preceded in death by her parents and a stillborn daughter, Sarah. Following Gloria’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private burial will be held in Olive Township Cemetery.
