Gordon Lewis Todd's Obituary
Gordon Lewis Todd, age 98, was transferred to heaven on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. “Whoever lives and believes in Me will never die.” Jn. 11:26. He was born February 27, 1924 in Muskegon, MI to Ralph and Gladys (Martin) Todd. On September 7, 1946, he married Lorraine E. Stark, the love of his life, and together, they enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage and two wonderful children. He was a longtime member of the Shores Community Church (formerly Mona Shores Baptist Church) where he taught Sunday School for many years. Gordon served in the U.S. Army for three years during WWII and was deployed overseas receiving the American Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal WWII. Gordon was employed for several finance companies and worked 11 years as the Office Manager at Anderson Pattern (now Anderson Global) until his retirement in 1988. Gordon served 8 years on the Norton Shores City Council and as Mayor Pro-tem and 5 years on the Board of Overseers of the Baptist General Conference, and 5 years as the Conference Treasurer of the Michigan Baptist General Council. Gordon also served on numerous church and community boards. He played softball for many years and enjoyed bowling and golfing. Survivors include 2 children, Gayle (Michael) Hurney, Bruce (Shelley) Todd; 6 grandchildren, Tobin (Amber) Todd, Heather (Chris) Duchesneau, Halla Todd, Chanell Todd, Heather (Naveed) Anjum, Steve (Krystyna) Hurney; 7 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Alleyah, Pola, Riley, Harlow, Maverick, Thaddeus; 1 brother, David Todd; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine E. Todd and his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. A Funeral Service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Shores Community Church (3800 Lake Harbor Road, Norton Shores) with Rev. Tom Siefert officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Lakeside Cemetery with Pastor Nate Parsekian officiating and Military Honors offered by the Army National Guard Honor Detail and the Muskegon County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Muskegon Rescue Mission, Shores Community Church or the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice.
