Gordon J. Vandertill's Obituary
Mr. Gordon J. Vandertill, age 83, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 in Muskegon. He was born on January 15, 1934 to James and Helen (Bednarek) Vandertill and was a lifelong resident of the Muskegon area. Gordon was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Following military duty, he graduated from Michigan State University and was a longtime educator at Fruitport public schools. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Gordon was an avid reader. He enjoyed singing, M.S.U. sports, Detroit Lions and Tigers baseball. Gordon loved the arts and had performed in many local plays throughout the years. SURVIVORS include his cousins, Robert Orchard, Rita Murphy and Kay Hemmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Vandertill and also his cousins, Karen Smrcina and Duane Orchard. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Muskegon with the Rev. Fr. Michael P. Olson presiding.
