Grace Lucille Bergstrom's Obituary
Grace Lucille Bergstrom, age 96, of Grand Haven, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Grand Pines Assisted Living Center. She was born December 22, 1922, in Bad Axe, MI to Stuart D. and Clara J. (Muentener) McGregor, and she married Robert Theodore Bergstrom on September 21, 1947, in McBain, MI. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2003.
Grace graduated from McBain High School, and worked in the banking industry at Banc One (Peoples Bank) for many years, and loved interacting with customers. She was a longtime active member of United Methodist Church of the Dunes and UMCD Women and Mary Circle, Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post # 28 Auxiliary serving as Treasurer, and the Sgt. Alvin J. Jonker V.F.W. Post # 2326 Auxiliary. Her other interests were sewing, knitting, and cooking. Most important to her was spending time with family and friends.
She is lovingly remembered by three sons: Michael (Julie) Bergstrom of Grand Rapids, MI, Drs. David (Tamie) Bergstrom of Kiawah Island, SC, and Richard (Beth) Bergstrom of Hart, MI; six grandchildren: Jeff (Amy) Bergstrom, Tim (Marcie) Bergstrom, Kara (Ryan) Telman, Dr. Alexis Bergstrom, Stuart (Mary) Bergstrom, Sean (Dr. Jennifer) Bergstrom; twelve great-grandchildren; and special niece, Barb McGregor. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Keith McGregor, and daughter-in-law, Linda Bergstrom.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, May 3, 2019, at United Methodist Church of the Dunes with Rev. Lou Grettenberger officiating. Friends may meet the family 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, at Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services – The VanZantwick Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions to United Methodist Church of the Dunes or Hospice of North Ottawa Community are appreciated.
