Grace Mazurek's Obituary
Grace Threasa Mazurek, age 87, of Spring Lake passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2005, in Muskegon. She was born June 3, 1918, to Frank and Laura (Maslawski) Witkowski in Cedar, MI; and married Leo Stephen Mazurek on Jun 17, 1940, in Muskegon. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2001.
Mrs. Mazurek moved to Spring Lake from Muskegon in 1973. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Sacred Heart Altar Society for 25 years, the Catholic Daughters for 50 years, and she was also a member of the Muskegon Falcon Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Janice (Art) Bator of Spring Lake; son, Leon (Kathleen) Mazurek of Spring Lake; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Mazurek of Nunica; eight grandchildren: Stephanie, Benjamin, Jeremey, and Joshua Bator; Amy, Derek (Angela), and Kyle Mazurek, and Lisa (York) Mazurek-Ragsdale; two sisters, Phyllis Swiercz of Ferndale, and Evelyn Drzewicki of Muskegon; nieces and nephews. Her son, Ronald, preceded her in death in 1994.
A funeral liturgy for Grace T. Mazurek will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake with Rev. Leonard Sudlik as celebrant. Friends may meet the family 4-7 p.m., with a scripture service at 7 p.m., Thursday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.
